Where did you go?
In 2006 I went to Sydney, Australia and did a semester at MacQuarrie University.

What course did you study?
I did a so called Study Abroad Semester where you take 3 or 4 different modules - I did Ancient Mythology, Anthropology, European Studies and Indigenous Studies.

What was the University like?
I remember it to be very good - there was a well developed interactive learning system where all lectures were recorded and paired with the power point slides online so that you could access it whenever you needed to! However, it was quite far from the city - about 40 min on a bus.

Did you have any problems while you were out there?
Not really, the only thing I struggled with was managing my money, also it was difficult dealing with our real estate agency! Apart from that the only problems were the ones you deal with in everyday life, and the occasional hit of home sickness!How did you find living in a different country?
I loved it! And I think as long as you embrace the fact that not everything will be exactly as back home, you will too! But yes, you will miss home, and your family and friends - but that's nothing compared to what you will take with you from the experience.

How do you think your time abroad has benefited you for the future?
It made me a lot more independent, and daring. I grew up! If you can move to the other side of the world, you can do anything. On a more practical level it improved my English skills, and I also made contacts I will be able to make use of in my future career.

Would you recommend going abroad to other students? 
There is nothing I would recommend more! It enriches you in so many ways and will be an experience you will never forget. After all, I ended up doing my entire degree abroad!
