Bologna Street Markets Bologna Street Markets Jess J
Where did your daughter go?
Bologna, Italy

How long did she stay there for?
One year.

What did she do out there?
She studied literature and history of art at Bologna University
What were your main concerns?
Her being warm and being able to see as much as possible.

What did you do to try and cope with her year abroad? What advice would you give to parents in a similar situation?
I got on with normal everyday life like everyone should.

In hindsight, do you think you were right to worry as much as you did?
(I did not worry.)

Bologna e il Nettuno: luci e ombre by Renzo FerranteIs there anything you feel you could have done differently?
No, we let her get on with everything.

Would you recommend a year abroad for students?
Of course.

How do you think your daughter benefited from a year abroad?
She was lucky enough to live with Italians and so returned fluent and also made lasting friendships and has continued to go back to Bologna regularly.

How do you think you benefited from her year abroad?
We had the excuse to come and visit her in Bologna and had regular consignments of chillies, garlic, parmesan and prosciutto when she came home in the holidays…

Would you like her to go abroad again?
Absolutely.
