Jennifer studied French and German at Durham University, and spent her year abroad working as a British Council Language Assistant at four primary schools in Paris. She is now a TV weather presenter for the BBC.
Steve studied German and Spanish at Royal Holloway, and spent his year abroad studying at Hochschule Esslingen University neat Stuttgart in Germany and working for an online travel company in Madrid, Spain. He is now Double Club Languages Coordinator at Arsenal Football Club, an innovative education and football programme which teaches a range of languages combined with football coaching.
On Juliette's gap year, she studied Spanish and Cuban cultural studies at the University of Havana and then went to work in a school in Brazil. For her degree she studied History and Economics at Oxford University, then did her accountancy qualification with Ernst & Young in London. She is now a Financial Controller working at a Private Equity Fund.
Dominic studied Spanish and English Literature at the University of Leeds, and spent his year abroad working in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. He is now a teacher at Spanish Boot Camp, and founder of Spanish Gap Year.
Liz studied Hindi and South Asian History at SOAS and, having travelled widely and learnt lots of languages, she is now a headhunter for the International Committee of the Red Cross, responsible for finding people who have learnt rarely-studied languages.
Lauren studied French and German at Birmingham University. She spent the first semester of her year abroad studying at the Université de Strasbourg, France, while interning at the European Parliament there, and the second studying in Bamberg, Germany, while waitressing in a biergarten. She is now a Political and Public Diplomacy Attaché at the Dutch Embassy in London.
Luke studied German and History at Nottingham University. He spent his year abroad at university in Aachen, Germany, and is now a freelance Project Manager and Project Consultant in the educational and cultural sectors.
John studied French and Spanish at Cardiff University, and spent his year abroad studying at Valencia University, Spain, and working as a waiter at Disneyland Paris. He is now a Translator for the European Commission, the organisation which represents the interests of the EU as a whole.
