A student wrote to TYA after one of our talks recently and said:
"I couldn't help but think of something I have used whilst travelling to help me with withdrawing money at decent rates in reasonably remote locations. I used a Caxton FX currency card which is cheap to apply for and will let you withdraw and pay for things abroad at current currency rates and with no extra charges. Here is the link
to the website to apply.
This might be of some use to the users of your website and is a nifty way of avoiding setting up a bank account abroad. It has the extra benefit of if you lose the cashcard or it's stolen, it's not your main bank card and so you can only lose the sum on the card. It is also relatively cheap to replace. I met someone in Bolivia who was taken to a cashpoint at gunpoint and asked to withdraw everything on their card. They used their Caxton card
and could only get out the equivalent of £50."
