I’m a student coming to the end of my year abroad, and have been working here for a little while now and really enjoying it. I look after three boys – two ten-year olds and one thirteen-year old – all of whom are good company, attentive and French-speaking. The family are looking for a replacement from when I leave at the end of August or beginning of September and to stay until the end of the coming academic year, although they are flexible on the duration.
The job comes with a room (with a bed big enough for 10) and a car which you can use for your own trips too. There are plenty of perks: being 5 minutes by car from one of the World’s most cosmopolitan cities (home to the Red Cross, CERN and many other international organisations); amazing views, a lake with water sports, and nearby skiing; and flights, language lessons, petrol, food, a mobile phone, a seasonal ski pass and accommodation all for free. The purpose is the boys: to ferry them back and forth to school/activities, and to keep them entertained and out of mischief, so there’s no extra housework to do (they have someone who cleans. irons, etc.) During school term, there is free time from about 8am to 3:30 pm (great in order to catch up on second year reading lists/take language classes, which will be paid for by the family/apply for internships etc). Weekends and most evenings are also free, and there is a monthly allocation of pocket money.
The family are looking for a boy, but this is not absolutely set in stone so it’s worth applying if you’re a (relatively) sportive girl too. A driving licence is required, but no experience of similar jobs is necessary. If you are interested or just want to find out more, email me at
