I found a good website for accommodation in France: www.appartager.com. You can post a profile on there saying that you are looking for a house share and people will email you, but when setting up your post you have to put a maximum rent value in Euros. I have no idea what to put! I will be studying at Université Lyon 2 from September 2010 to May 2011. Does anybody know what the average rent for a house/flat in Lyon is? If so could they reply to this message and give me some idea? Thanks.

I found this website which has info about typical monthly rent costs in Lyon.

It says that for a furnished one bedroom appartment you're looking at about 700-900 euros per month, and you might have to pay up to two months' rent for security charges...

Does anyone have any first-hand experience they can pass on?

But you also need to remember that the French, as bureaucratic as they are, offer CAF:

www.caf.fr/wps/portal/

It's like a sort of 'discount' on rent, and the great news is, you don't have to be a national to take advantage of it!
