I think the best sites for flatshares are www.loquo.es or www.easypiso.com/ is also pretty good too...I spotted a few tips on the Been There Done that reviews here too, that might be useful, but those are the sites I ended up using

Yes! - im heading off to Barcelona in September, when are you off? I too am a bit unsure about finding accomadation etc!

If you're interested in working on your Spanish whilst staying in Barcelona i'd strongly suggest doing a homestay where you live with a Spanish family for a week or two. It could be just until you find some other accomodation but I did it when I was in Barcelona doing a really great Spanish language course and found it so helpful, fun, and a great way to get to know the city from the locals point of view.

Apart from Loquo, etc. have you had a look at Segundamano www.segundamano.es/ ? It's quite a popular magazine and website in Barcelona.
