CAF housing allowance in France 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello

I would like to ask if anyone has already taken CAF housing allowance? Or can anyone tell more about it?
Is it difficult to get it?
Can I apply for it if I'm going to study in France only for one semester (4months)?

Thank you in advance

Hi!
Yes, I got the CAF when I was in France. It's really not that difficult. You need to go to your local CAF office, also called Allocations Familiales, with your university papers proving you're a student, a proof of address in France, and your passport. Check here for more details www.caf.fr/wps/portal/ On the site you can type in your French postcode and it will tell you about the CAF office in your area.
Also it should not be a problem to only claim it for 4 months, because thats what I did! The only thing I will say is that it takes a while for them to process your claim, so get the ball rolling as soon as you can.
Hope that helps,
Nick

Hi Ana! Yes, check out Nick's post above for more information about applying to the CAF and this article: www.thirdyearabroad.com/accommodation/it...commodation-in-paris will also be really useful, no matter where in France you will be.

Hope that helps!

Hi All,
I have a query on the CAF benefit in France.
I am coming to France for my Exchange programme to ESCP Europe on a long stay visa for a period of 3.5 months (sep 3 to Dec 18) and am sharing a studio with my friend for 450Euros each.
Please let me know whether I will be eligible for CAF with this period of stay (although Nick has answered it above, I am asking again to be sure if things havent yet changed Please bear with me).
Also, please let me know what are all the formalities I have to go through. I have been reading all over the net and am pretty confused by now!

Any info on my questions is highly appreciated and whould help me alleviate my concerns greatly as I am very concerned about my expenses.

Thanks.
