Priceless Porto

Porto Porto rvacapinta
Oliver spent his year abroad in Porto, Portugal. Read on as he fills the year abroad gaps...
My name is: Oliver

I'm studying: French and Portuguese

For my year abroad I went to: Porto, Portugal

While I was there I: Taught in a secondary school.

Five words to describe my year away are: Cheap, rainy, comfy, drunken, unforgettable.

My top tips for anyone going there are: Learning to eat tripe, the local delicacy, without grimacing.

The cleverest people find accommodation: In newspaper ads.

Don't leave without: Your sense of humour.

The best night out is: Caipirissimas in Maus Habitos, then dancing in Plano B.

When your parents visit: Take them to the gardens of the Serralves Museum.

My favourite lunch place: Cufra for francesinhas, in Matosinhos.

My best place for a hot date: The Clérigos clock-tower.

On a Sunday: Stay in bed.

If you want to fit in quickly, you should: Learn to speak Portuguese!
