Maybe New York’s buzz will have you crying out for more, Washington DC might be your political bag or you may long for Buffalo’s more artsy vibe - one thing’s for sure, this part of the country has a lot to offer the city dweller. Thanks to its Eastern location, the Mid-Atlantic was the first stop-off point for many immigrants way back when; as a result, you’ll be presented with a real pastiche of cultures, food and accents, which makes it this region all the more exciting. Whether you want to have a look around the different neighbourhoods in NYC, you fancy trying out proper Italian food in New Jersey or you’re after some decent crab (meat) in Baltimore, this rather large pocket of America will keep you more than entertained. History fans can go visit some of Pennsylvania’s finest cities, offering a real glimpse of what the country was founded upon and why not try out some of the wicked good (that’s American slang for great) guided tours, so as to kill two birds with one stone.
If you’re planning on seeing something spectacular, you can’t afford to miss the Niagara Falls, out towards Buffalo (and try the local speciality whilst you’re there - Buffalo wings). Treks abound here, but one of the most famed (and understandably so) is the Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine, giving you the chance to explore and experience the gorgeous landscape around this part of Northern America. The skiers amongst you will be happy to hear that you can ride the slopes like a true master (or novice) around the Poconos, in Pennsylvania.
And lest we forget, if you’re a music fan, boy, are you in for a treat. From techno tunes to acoustic melodies to oh so catchy pop to world famous jazz, you can’t do much better than New York for going out. Just don’t forget to tip, when you grab that Bud or Cosmopolitan...
